Frequently Asked Questions
Why Store my fur? My house is cool, should I store my furs in a cedar closet or hall closet?
The ideal temperature to store your furs is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit with proper humidity controls. Storing furs in a closet above that temperature for an extended period of time puts the pelts at risk of premature drying and deterioration.
Do not store your garments in a cedar closet as cedar is a drying agent.
Colder temperatures minimize evaporation of necessary oils in your fur garments. Once oils are depleted from fur or leather it becomes frail and easy to tear.
Additionally, keep your coats away from moth balls, as moth balls emit odors that may penetrate and accelerate drying of the fur.
Our vaults offer extensive theft prevention.
Minimal U.V. light exposure.
How do we clean your furs?
We carefully clean, condition & glaze your furs with all natural ingredients, using the most advanced process and state of the art European made equipment.
Upon receipt of your garment, a fur specialist will inspect it for any tears, stains, loose closures or openings.
The lining is then carefully hand cleaned.
Garments are then cleaned and conditioned by tumbling in a specialized drum, with safe, natural products for an extended period time. Tumbling draws dirt and dust from the fur and the solution penetrates the fur to keep skins properly conditioned, removes unwanted odors and cleans the garment.
Gentle compressed air is then blown to ensure all the cleaning mixture is removed from your fur.
Garments are then ironed using a glazing machine to restore the life and luster of the garment.
The lining is then steamed at low temperature to remove any creases.
Garments are then combed and given a final inspection to be sure there are no loose closures or small lining openings, and re-sewn if any.
How often should I clean & condition my furs?
The best practice is to condition your furs each year to remove dust particles, odors and to protect your furs from drying out.
